Despite spending all of Sunday reminding myself that I needed to schedule this post, I still forgot once I was home. Sorry about that!
I’m not sure why, but this photo makes me think of Jurassic Park. Which reminds me of the new movie coming out. At first when I saw the tamed raptors I shrugged, because okay maybe it’s somewhat believable. I mean, there’s people who interact up close with lions, tigers, wolves, and other large predators, plus it’s nice to see a movie where dinosaurs aren’t just mindless killing machines. Then I realized that as much as I like my chickens, if they were the size of raptors I’m sure they would eat me without a second thought.
They can, however, be quite cute.
Speaking of baby birds, how cute are these goslings?
So all my new chickens are boys. Two of them are already crowing. There’s maybe a 1% chance that one of them is a girl, but I’m not holding my breath. I heard about a test where you hold the chick facing you, then tip them so their head is lower than their butt end. Apparently the girls will flip their tails up and fan their feathers out, whereas the boys won’t usually do anything with their tails. The two crowers don’t flip, but this one flips its tail every time. That comb size and colour definitely says boy though.
Maybe he’s just in touch with his feminine side.
I wonder if girly roosters are less likely to want to rip your face off…
