For anyone wondering about the plastic Easter eggs, they’re a halfhearted attempt to incite broodiness in the hens. I’m torn on whether or not I want to try hatching eggs from our d’Anvers, but I also want to join in this year’s Easter Hatch-a-Long on Backyard Chickens. In the end we decided to leave the fake eggs in until March 16, the last day we have to set eggs, and if they haven’t gone broody by then it wasn’t meant to be.
