Suki is going to be six years old this month. It’s so hard to believe that it’s been over half a decade since the Monster came to live with me.
I didn’t get to choose which puppy I got, all I knew was I’d be getting one of the two females in the litter. That’s pretty normal because the breeder has raised the puppies since their birth and knows them and what sort of person they’ll be most likely to fit with. Initially I was more interested in her sister, as that was the puppy that was right in the action and wanting to play. While I was playing with Bridgette, Suki (at that time dubbed Teenie because of her size compared to the other puppies) skirted around the circle, climbed into my lap, and plunked her little head down in the center of my palm to take a nap, effectively making it nearly impossible for me to give anyone but her attention. I tried hard not to choose which one I wanted, but at that point I couldn’t help it. I was smitten with her and bold, demanding little attitude. When I went back the next weekend for a visit I was told Suki was mine.
(Just to clarify, she didn’t come home with me at six weeks. That photo was taken while she was still with her mom.)
